We're sure you're full of questions about Invisalign Teen and whether or not it's right for your child, so we've compiled a list of some commonly asked questions about Invisalign Teen.
A. Aligners should be worn at least 22 hours a day, and may be removed for eating, drinking, or brushing your teeth.
A. No! Unlike braces, there are no additional dietary restrictions during treatment. However, aligners must be removed while eating or drinking, and we recommend a balanced, healthy diet for all of our patients.
A. Like any orthodontic treatment, there is a short adjustment period during which you may experience some speaking abnormalities such as a lisp. However, this should disappear within 1 to 2 days.
A. You may experience some minor discomfort and pressure for a day or two each time you switch to a new aligner. This is normal, and a sign that your teeth are moving into their optimal position.
A. If you need to chew gum, we recommend removing the aligners first, as the gum will stick to the aligners.
A. Brushing them regularly with toothpaste and a toothbrush will keep them fresh and clean.
A. Regular office visits normally occur every five to six weeks. These visits ensure that your Invisalign treatment is progressing as planned.
A. All orthodontic patients are instructed to wear their retainers at night indefinitely. Sleeping with your retainers in at night is crucial to maintaining the new shape of your bight, and we don't want all of your hard work to be for nothing!
A. Treatment time varies depending on the severity of the misaligned teeth, but generally lasts between six and 18 months.
A. Invisalign can be an option for kids if their teeth, including their second molars, have fully grown in.
